Pharmacy First is an NHS initiative that invites patients to consult their local pharmacist for a variety of common conditions that can be safely assessed and treated without needing a GP appointment. Eligible patients can access free advice and treatment for conditions such as urinary tract infections (for women aged 16 to under 65), impetigo, infected nappy rash, and more. The Pharmacy First service builds on the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service which has run since October 2019. The consultation service enables patients to be referred into community pharmacy for a minor illness or an urgent repeat medicine supply.
